Study Meeting in Shoyo Project

Hello. We are going have a study meeting this time, as one of Shoyo Project.

The contents of the meeting in this time are some presentations and discussion
about some chapters from Stefan Collini’s English pasts : essays in history and culture.

Details of the meeting are as follows:

Date: July 10th
Location: Dr. Martin’s office
Language: English(or Japanese)
Presenters: Dr. Anthony Martin, Sinichi Suzuki, Gyokusyo Ma
Text: Collini, Stefan. English pasts : essays in history and culture. Oxford: New York: Oxford University Press, 1999.

In this text, we will deal with:

1) Writing “the national history” : Trevelyan and after
2) Literary minds : Anthony Trollope and George Eliot
3) With friends like these : John Carey and Noel Annan

こんにちは、文学研究科修士の小泉です。

この度、Shoyo Projectの一環として、スタディ・ミーティング
を開催することとなりました。

以下の情報より、ご興味がありましたらぜひご参加下さい。

今回の内容としましては、英米文学研究に関わる本や文献を読み、
プレゼンターによる発表を中心に意見の交換を行っていくものを予定
しております。

なお、テクストはStefan ColliniによるEnglish pasts : essays in history
and culture (基本データを添付しておきます)から三章分を選択し
て扱います。開催日等の情報は以下の通りです。

Self-Introduction (Yuto Koizumi)

Hello. I am Yuto Koizumi, a master student in Waseda Graduate university.
I study Shakespeare, mainly focusing on medical discourse in Shakespeare’s texts.

What I intend to do through Shoyo is to start a project for the study
meeting outside class. In this project, whoever perticipates can shair
his/her fields through presentation and discussion given by other researchers.
The project is conducted in English. The concrete plan will be given soon.

Special Lecture (Kenji Yoshino)

Waseda University Theatre Museum Global COE will invite Kenji Yoshino (the Chief Justice Earl Warren Professor of Constitutional Law at New York University School of Law), who will give a lecture on the legal problem of The Merchant of Venice.

Kenji Yoshino is a legal scholar, earning J. D. at Yale University. Professor Yoshino also obtained B. A. on English Literature at Harvard University. His book on Shakespeare and the law will be published in 2010.

Anyone interested in Shakespeare or this lecture will be welcome.
